This college in Albany offers an EMT Technical Certificate, an advanced EMT Technical certificate and Para-medicine diploma programs. The EMT Certificate program is one semester long, the AEMT program is available to candidates of age 18 and above who are able to undergo background checks, drug screenings and physical examinations. Applicants to the Para-medicine programs must be currently certified by the NREMT. The college even offers a Paramedic track to candidates training to be a paramedic and this also awards an EMS professional diploma.
Athens Technical College.
Located in Athens, courses offered include; EMT Technical Certificate, AEMT Technical Certificate, Paramedic technology diploma and A.A.S Paramedic technology. Requires that applicants to the EMT program be over 18 years, have a high school diploma or equivalent and take the Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test (HOBET), a test used to rank admission candidates. Students, once admitted to the program, are required to produce copies of immunization tests and pass both physical and background checks. Individuals interested in taking up the Paramedic course may earn either a diploma or an Associate of Applied Science in Paramedic technology. The Paramedic diploma and degree programs require applicants to be certified as EMT Intermediate or EMT Advanced.
Central Georgia Technical College.
This college is located in Macon and offers students a variety of different courses. Students may choose to earn an EMT technical certificate of credit, an AEMT technical certificate of credit, a Para-medicine diploma, a Para-medicine degree or an Associate of Applied Science. In addition to the mentioned courses, the college also offers an EMS professions diploma and emergency management awards. The EMT Certificate program is offered in the fall to high school graduates. The AEMT program also begins in the fall but requires applicants to be currently certified as EMTs. The Paramedic program is only available to Intermediate or Advanced EMTs.
Chattahoochee Technical College.
Based in Marietta, offers an EMS professions diploma program that trains students at both the basic and advanced EMT level. Admission to the EMS program is based upon GPA and the HOBET results. The college also offers an option for currently certified EMTs to earn an AEMT diploma. Two awards are offered at the Paramedic level: a Para-medicine diploma and an Associate of Applied Science, Para-medicine. The EMS professions program is offered in the daytime at the North Metro campus in Acworth and the other programs are available at the Appalachian campus in Jasper.
Darton State College.
Located in Albany, offers the EMS Certificate program and A.S in EMS. The school does not offer an EMT- Basic course, however, there is an option for students to complete training as an AEMT or Paramedic. The college offers a program specifically for students without experience in the EMS field. Individuals who apply for this program will take courses as an EMT Intermediate before continuing with the Paramedic program.
Georgia Northwestern Technical College.
This college is based out of Rome and offers five different EMT and Paramedic training options. The EMT Certificate program is offered to candidates above 18 years of age who hold a valid driver’s license and are able to perform the duties of an EMT. Other courses offered include EMS professions diploma, AEMT Technical certificate of credit, Para-medicine diploma and A.A.S in Para-medicine.
Gwinnett Technical College.
Located in Lawrenceville, offers five EMS training programs. The EMT Certificate program trains students to serve in entry-level positions. The EMS professions program includes both the Basic EMT and AEMT certificate programs. Other courses offered are the AEMT Certificate program, Para-medicine diploma and A.A.S in Para-medicine.

EMT Training Online – Georgia
Online training is a learning method designed to enable students to work at their own pace and flexibility. It is a great help for students who are working or parenting during the week.
The Application Process:
You can apply for the online training program in four simple steps;
- First, you’ll need to complete the online application form.
- Next, hand in a scanned copy of your government issued photo ID / a national identity such as a driver’s license.
- Then, you will need to provide proof of your high school graduation or GED.
- Lastly, you will need to make the tuition payment before you can begin classes.
How does it work?
There are 3 parts of the online training. There’s a didactic/informative portion, the hands-on skills portion and clinical rotations.
The didactic portion: Gives students 6 months from the time they begin to complete all aspects of this course. It is the theory part and students are required to complete 140 hours of didactic portion online.
The hands-on skill days: There are usually 2 days out of the six months used for skills practice and at least one day for the National Registry Skills Testing. These dates are usually given in advance in order to accommodate all students’ schedules.
Clinical Rotations: These are provided by several major hospitals across the state of Georgia and throughout the United States. Students will complete 48 hours of EMS with at least 6 emergency patient transports and 24 hours of Emergency Department time.
